Tokyo: Little Mermaid and Tokyo Tower

It would be a lie to say that all I have done since leaving the US has been work.  I have had some fun too.  Actually, I can say that I have been shown a lot of favor.  Opportunities have come my way that have surprised me.  A couple of those have been trips to Tokyo.

The Little Mermaid

The first time I went to Tokyo was with a group of Lily Group teachers.  The teachers were from all the different schools.   I was given the opportunity to spend the day with them and accompany them to a show of the Little Mermaid.  One of the teachers picked me up and drove us to the school bus where we met the other teachers.  I was surprised when I saw the other teachers.  It was 6:00 in the morning and many of them were dressed all up looking really nice: suits, heels, hair done, and smiling.  Ummmm....  I had put on a summer dress and was wearing flats and my make-up bag was in my purse.  Hehehe.

The drive took a little over a couple hours.  There were times that the bus was just inching along.  On parts of the highway its only a couple lanes and very traffic backed up.  That gave me time to talk with some of the teachers and get to know them.

Tokyo is so big!!!  The buildings are packed side by side.  Concrete is everywhere.  Buses and cars going along the narrow streets.   Was intense not like anything I had seen before.  Once we got off the bus we all headed to the mall for some shopping and food.  After that we walked to the theater.

The sidewalks were full of people walk and bicycles.  People moved quickly and it was loud.  It was then when I realized I had gotten used to country life and Tokyo was overwhelming me.  Country bumpkin, that's me.

We arrived early and hit the souvenir shop.  Then we went to find our seats.  The show was good!   Of coarse it was in Japanese but I knew the story.  There were a couple of new songs and it was cool to see how it was adapted for the stage.  The colors were bright and costumes were interesting.  Hopefully one day I can take my kids to see those kinds of shows because it was beautiful.

Tokyo Tower

The second time I went to Tokyo was to see Tokyo Tower.  Its impressive.  I had hoped to go all the way to the top but it was closed.  Even then the view of the city was good.  After taking quite a lot of pictures and even asking a few other tourists to take my picture, I was able to walk for a while.  Have a look!

Aqua World August 17, 2013

Aqua World was fun!  It's an aquarium in Oarai.  I went with my friends Charles, Abby, and Ernesto.

The day was a warm but a very pretty day.  Charles drove us in his car and the drive was nice.  The aquarium was packed with people since it was during a holiday but we still had a great time.  There was so much to see and we could have spent all day there but we were hungry!

The dolphon show!!!  We stood in line for an hour and a half before going in.  There were so cute.
